Part of the idverde group, idverde NL has been shortlisted for its Buurtwens project in Goes—a community-focused initiative that transforms public space into an inclusive environment for recreation, biodiversity, and social connection.

Recognising greener living environments.

The Stichting Steenbreek Trophy is awarded annually by Stichting Steenbreek, a national organisation dedicated to promoting sustainable greening across the Netherlands.

The award celebrates projects that make a meaningful contribution to creating climate-resilient, biodiverse, and people-friendly neighbourhoods, recognising organisations that help improve the quality of the built environment through nature-based solutions.

A community space designed for people and nature.

The nominated Buurtwens project brings together play, recreation, and community spaces designed for people of all ages.

The development features a football pitch with grandstand, picnic areas, a 30-metre zip line, beaches, water play areas, and natural play elements including willow tunnels. Alongside these recreational facilities, the project places a strong emphasis on biodiversity and environmental value.

As part of the development, 147 trees were planted, complemented by flower meadows and hedgerows that provide habitats for pollinators and local wildlife while enhancing the area’s ecological resilience.

The project demonstrates how thoughtfully designed green infrastructure can strengthen communities while creating lasting environmental benefits.
