Nature at the heart of healthcare.
Opening from 2026, Mary Elizabeth’s Hospital will provide highly specialised care for children, adolescents, and expectant mothers.
Designed around the principle that life should continue even during serious illness, the hospital will combine world-class medical care with spaces that support emotional wellbeing. The rooftop gardens will provide patients, families, and staff with opportunities to connect with nature, offering places to rest, play, and recover away from the clinical environment.
The project reflects a growing understanding of the positive role that access to nature can play in supporting physical and mental wellbeing throughout healthcare journeys.

The partnership brings together expertise in landscape architecture, biodiversity, healthcare design, and environmental innovation to create an integrated solution that benefits both people and nature.
Rather than treating biodiversity and urban development as competing priorities, the project demonstrates how they can work together to create healthier and more resilient environments.

Using data to support biodiversity.
Alongside the physical landscape, idverde will contribute specialist environmental expertise by introducing sensor technology to monitor the health and performance of trees and planting throughout the roof gardens.
The data collected will provide valuable insights into plant health and climate performance, supporting long-term management while contributing to growing sustainability reporting requirements, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
By combining ecological expertise with data-driven landscape management, the project demonstrates how technology can strengthen the long-term value and resilience of urban green infrastructure.
